Editorial Standards
Last updated: October 12, 2026
These are the standards we hold ourselves to. They apply to everything published under the AXY News name.
Accuracy
Getting it right matters more than getting it first. Facts specific to a story, such as names, numbers, quotes, dates and places, must come from a credible source. When something is unconfirmed, we say so plainly instead of presenting it as fact. When details are still emerging, we update the article and show the time it was last updated.
Sourcing
We build on reporting from established news organisations, official statements, public records and recognised experts. Every article credits and links to its original source. We do not invent quotes, statistics or sources, and we do not publish anonymous claims as fact.
Context and analysis
Most AXY News articles combine two things: what has happened, drawn from the source reporting, and our explanation of it, including the background, why it matters and what could happen next. We keep the two distinct. Analysis is written as analysis ("this could", "analysts expect"), never dressed up as reported fact.
Independence
Our coverage is decided by news value, not by advertisers, sponsors, governments or political groups. Sponsored content is always labelled and kept separate from our journalism.
Fairness
We aim to represent people and positions accurately, avoid loaded language and include relevant perspectives on contested issues. We do not publish content intended to spread hatred, harass individuals or mislead readers.
Images
We use photographs from the original source with credit, freely licensed images (for example from Wikimedia Commons) with the photographer and licence shown, and images from our own partners. Captions describe what an image actually shows.
Corrections
When we get something wrong, we fix it and tell readers what changed. See our Corrections Policy.
